I bought this as an early XMas present to myself, I was pretty excited and had my hopes high… it was between this and the Wii… boy am I glad I got the XBOX!!! First off it’s the showing off to your friends! And it’s so much fun when it’s a group… even my husband’s older cousins enjoy the games!

It’s extremely accurate in the movements, I haven’t had any lagging issues or anything with any of the games.

The only minus part is that I had to clear out my living room even though it says 6-8feet it requests around 10feet in reality, and since I just got it and am playing everyday I had to move everything around and now I have to explain everytime someone comes in

The games I have so far: Dance Central (Really cool!) Adventures, and Sports… the last one is everyone’s favorite!

I was looking for a basic sleeve to protect my iPad and Apple wireless keyboard while stowed inside my backpack. This case fit the bill perfectly. Additionally, the quality of design, materials, and construction FAR exceeded my expectations considering what I paid (under $15).

General comments:
Basic sleeve design for a netbook or iPad, as advertised. The construction is high quality, especially for the price. The material feels sturdy in hand, but is exceptionally light. Both sides of the sleeve are padded (neither side is rigid). The interior surface is smooth nylon. The interior portion of the zipper is protected from contents by a lip of fabric which, by its design, does NOT get caught up in the zipper. The zipper itself runs from the top left corner of the sleeve all the way down the right side of the sleeve, giving you the flexibility to only open the sleeve from the top or open it up more widely. Accented patches at the bottom and front center are a nice touch, providing good grip points.

iPad specific:
Bought the sleeve to house my iPad. Was despairing because I could not find a simple case to house both my iPad and my Apple wireless keyboard. Thought I would be forced to leave the sleeve open at the top with the keyboard sticking out. To my surprise, the iPad AND keyboard fit nicely together in the sleeve. The keyboard takes up the maximum height of the case, but the zipper closes nicely without being forced or rubbing, even with the iPad inside also.

This alarm system does everything it claims to. It’s very easy to set up, and to add extra detection units. I have a medium sized cat who roams the house, but she has yet to set off the alarms over the past six months. If you are renting and would like some extra peace of mind, this system, an extra detection unit or two as needed, and the reasonable monthly charge for monitoring is hard to beat.

The only drawback to this system is the lack of door/window switches – the only detecion unit are the motion sensors. If you are in long term rental with many doors/possible entry windows, you might want to look into a unit with door/window sensors.

This is a thermostat that does not ship with manuals… so get both the install guide and user guide from the web site. The user guide has a slew of unadvertised features.

This thermostat has a hidden service menu that you’ll see referenced in the user guide. You can configure the exact type of HVAC and every other timing type feature you can imagine… truly very advanced and highly configurable.

Most people buy this as a z-wave thermostat (as I did too) expecting that the schedule for heating and cooling will be set by the separate z wave controller (like a Vera)…

What really adds to the service menu is that you can enable the built in scheduler! In my mind, this is an advantage and should be enabled by default. What’s nice is that you can then maintain the traditional method for setting the heat/cool schedule. This way you are not dependent on a z wave controller and only use one for things like turning the heat on from your mobile phone an hour before you get home. If you decide to move houses, you can leave the thermostat behind without your z wave controller, knowing it will be fully functional for the next owners.

Another nice feature of this thermostat is the Usage Graph, that shows a 7 day revolving schedule of number of hours of heating and cooling. Kind of gives you a feel for your energy usage by seeing how many hours a day your heat or cool cycles have been running.

In summary this thermostat is every one of the 150 dollars that it sells for. Definitely better than the less expensive z wave thermostat by Wayne Dalton.

I read all the reviews and decided on this lock. I had it installed by a handyman and it took him 2 hours ($30 total). I didn’t have a deadbolt on that door, so he had to drill a hole and create one.

The lock is very attractive, much nicer than the photo. The front part sticks out and works like a handle, so that when you close your door, you push the top button and then turn the “handle” and that locks the door. It’s so easy. I used to go for a walk and leave my door open, just because I didn’t want to carry keys. Now, I just close the door, push the button, and turn the lock. It’s so fabulous—you will love it.

When you return to the house, you punch the top button, then touch in your four digit code, and turn the knob.

The inside is a large lever that turns the lock once you come inside. I expected it to be heavy, but it’s very light and easy to turn.

It’s attractive, easy, and I love it. If I wasn’t so cheap, I’d put one on all my rental property. Let’s face it, once you give someone a key, you never get it back. And I have had “friends” make themselves a key before they did give it back—creepy, I know. This way, you never have to worry about rekeying your house. You can just reset the code on the lock. There’s also a way to put in a second code if you want someone else to come in without knowing the master.

As a previous owner of other rival phones (e.g.- iPhone, Android, Blackberry), I am extremely satisfied with the overall performance of Nokia’s new arrival, the N8. After a week of use, I find myself being continuously impressed and rarely disappointed. Its most stand-out feature, of course, being the beefy 12 MP Carl Zeiss camera. The capabilities and features embodied in this addition rival most stand-alone digital cameras. The editing tools and other options, via apps and widgets pertaining to the camera, just add to the already impressive capabilities of the hardware.

Also, the Cymbian^3 OS is an improvement from previous Nokia OSs and it is way ahead of its competitors in terms of stability and overall function. Most surprising is the ease at which the phone can be navigated and settings can be modified. Like with most open-source phones, every ounce of memory and seemingly limitless control is at the user’s fingertips. The interface is very easy-to-use and Nokia provides many useful tips in the form of notifications, which can be disabled if necessary, to inform the user about some capabilities that may be passing them by.

Going back to hardware, the phone has a number of convenient attributes. The scratch-resistant, and nearly damage-proof, gorilla glass screen is something all phones should consider using in the future. This is one of the few phones that manages to combine durability and responsiveness, without making any sacrifices. The HDMI and mini-USB jacks are a wonderful addition as well when you consider the opportunities they provide.

I could continue to praise every little thing about this phone, but I should conclude with a few notable shortcomings. Most apparent, especially for those who previously owned an iPhone or Android phone, would be the severe lack of apps on the Ovi store. Those users interested in frivolous, time-wasting apps will not be satisfied with the currently destitute app store. Although many of the apps and widgets available are not geared toward fun as much as function, previous users of those app-rich phones might feel lost in the world of Nokia. Another downfall is the standard web browser for the N8.

Its clunky, non-responsive operations seem out of place in the phone’s otherwise efficient OS. Fortunately, Nokia is aware of this issue and it is something that can easily be improved via a simple update. Finally, like many phones of its kind, battery life may prove to be a hindrance. It is difficult to say that the battery life of the N8 is any worse than any of its competitors and users can easily figure out ways of improving battery life. I only note this because I have been led to believe, by several reviews, that this phone boasted an extremely long battery life, while what I am experiencing is average at best.

In closing, I can honestly say that this is the best phone that I have ever used in terms of overall capability, reliability, and durability. Those of you looking for the next big thing, deciding between the iPhone or Android, or even just looking to try something new, I implore you to give the Nokia N8 a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been using an iPad since it came out and now switched to the Galaxy Tab. For me, the 7″ screen is a perfect size for reading or playing games. It’s very responsive and so far have received good battery length. After using this for a while, I picked up the iPad and wondered how I was able to carry that around before because it felt 100% heavier after using this lighter tablet. I do miss a few applications that I had on the iPad but there are plenty of applications to try and if you don’t like, you can get an automatic refund from most at the Android Marketplace. The size format won’t fit into any pocket but when you get a case for it, it is easy to carry around. I picked my unit up direct from T-Mobile and couldn’t be happier.

I bought the the Wi-Fi Kindle three weeks ago. The 3G connectivity is more connectivity than I need, especially with all the WiFi hot spots to be found in my area, including the one in my own house. All of the reviews I’ve read concerning the Kindle recommended buying some kind of cover as protection in case the unit is dropped. I went ahead and bought a leather cover also distributed by amazon.com. The cover is simple but does what it’s designed to do and is quite attractive.

The unit leads you through basic setup the first time you turn it on. It’s incredibly easy to do and not worth spending any time discussing. Instead, let me tell you why I chose the Kindle over the Barnes & Noble Nook, the other ereader I considered buying.

Both readers have similar sized screens but differ in how those screens are navigated, with the Nook having a color touch screen for the user interface. The Kindle does everything on the e-ink screen, using a simple four-direction control with an activation button in the center. I tried the Nook at Barnes & Noble and found the interface to be less than intuitive. It wasn’t impossible to figure out, but it certainly could have been easier. Conversely, I was easily able to figure out the basic user interface for the Kindle without instructions. I’m sure the Nook would have become second nature to me had I gotten one, but it definitely has a higher learning curve.

Both devices use e-ink displays that are supposed to simulate the look of a page printed on paper. It works very well. The Kindle uses newer e-ink technology and has darker, better-looking display. This wasn’t a huge selling point, either, as the Nook’s screen is easy to read. I just found the Kindle’s screen even easier to read.

What was the real deciding point for me was the speed with which the two devices displayed a new page. On both devices, you simply press a button to display the next page. The buttons on both devices are well positioned and the motion to push the button quickly becomes as natural as the motion to turn an actual page in a book. The button scores an advantage over paper since e-ink pages never stick together, causing you to turn more than one page at a time. Conversely, it’s entirely possible to accidentally hit the button to turn the page on either device.

I’ve never accidentally turned a paper page in my entire reading life. The Kindle scores over the Nook because the new page displays much more quickly on the Kindle. The Kindle displays the new page about twice as fast as the Nook. It doesn’t seem like much, but the extra bit of time waiting for the Nook can take you right out of the story you’re reading. The Kindle changes the page at least as fast as I could turn a page in a printed book.

One advantage touted for the Nook over the Kindle is the number of book formats it supports, including the epub format. It’s true, the Kindle doesn’t support epub. Despite that, I’ve got several books on my Kindle that originally came in epub format. With only a little bit of looking online, I discovered Calibre, an open-source ebook management application which includes functionality to convert ebook files from one format to another. The software is also designed to help manage the books on whatever ereader you own. It’s free, incredibly easy to use, and the first thing you should get after getting any of the popular ereaders.

Within hours of buying my Kindle, I had over 200 ebooks on it without paying a dime for any of them. Between the Baen Free Library and the Project Guttenberg, I had no trouble finding lots of material to put on the device. Project Guttenberg has added Kindle formatted versions of the books found on the site (or, at least, all of the books I downloaded from the site). For example, I was able to put 25 books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, including the first five Mars books and the first several Tarzan books, on my Kindle for free. And they were all formatted for the Kindle, so I didn’t even have to convert them.

It’s worth noting that amazon.com will convert files to Kindle format, too. When you setup your Kindle, an email address is created for the Kindle. Any file sent to that email address will be converted to Kindle format and automatically sent to your Kindle via WiFi. There’s no charge for this service (though there may be a charge if you have the 3G version and use the 3G network). You can even send PDFs to your Kindle this way. Include the word “convert” in the subject and the PDF will be converted to work with the Kindle.

This works fairly well, though is far from perfect. You can also simply load a PDF directly onto the Kindle and attempt to read it that way, zooming in on the screen to make it large enough to read. I’ve fiddled with that approach and found it to be far too, well, fiddly. I was always having to adjust the display to see everything, wasting time which could have been spent reading. Honestly, if you’re primary goal is to read PDFs on an electronic device, suck it up and buy an iPad. Neither the Kindle nor the Nook is going to be really good at this.

Okay, enough about what the Kindle can and can’t do. The big question is, what’s it like reading from it? Simply put, it’s just like reading a book, except I push a button to change pages instead of physically turning a page. Oh, and there’s no book smell, which can be a good thing if the book has a mildew odor or has absorbed smoke odor from being in the house of a smoker. In all the import elements, though, the Kindle completely simulates a book.

Someone reading this bound to be thinking, “Yeah, but I can read all those ebooks on my computer without spending money on an ereader!” That’s absolutely correct. No doubt about it. And if you don’t mind reading books while sitting at your computer, don’t buy an ereader. Personally, I hate reading books on my computer. Being in IT, I spend enough time in front of the computer each day. I don’t want to have to read for pleasure there, too. Besides, I can take the Kindle anywhere and read it at any time. A single charge lasts for weeks (I’ve recharged my Kindle once since buying it three weeks ago), something you can’t claim about even the most energy efficient laptop or netbook. The Kindle also doesn’t build up heat. My laptop and my netbook both get really hot after only an hour or so of use. The Apple iPad also builds up heat, I’ve heard, so it doesn’t really score much over the netbook or laptop.

Is the Kindle — or any ereader — for you? That’s a question you’re going to have to answer for yourself.

If you’re the kind of person who loves reading older works such as the ebooks available from Project Guttenberg, and don’t like reading books on your computer, you should seriously consider a Kindle. The cost of the Kindle pales compared to the cost of buying even used versions of those books. Instead of waiting for amazon.com or your local used bookstore to get copies of books from Edgar Rice Burroughs or Rudyard Kipling or Robert Louis Stevenson, just grab the books from Project Guttenberg and start reading.

If you’re the kind of person who buys books and never gets rid of them, a Kindle could save you a lot in the way of storage space. The books aren’t much less expensive in electronic format than in paper format, but the Kindle can hold over 3000 books at one time. That’s a lot of bookshelves you don’t have to buy. It is harder to loan a book to a friend, though families can put several devices on the same account, allowing everyone to read the same book at the same time. (Most ebooks appear to allow the book to be on more than one reader at the same time.)

If you’re the kind of person who does lots of trading at used bookstores, well, I don’t see much of a second-hand market for ebooks coming along any time soon (if ever).

In the end, I can only speak for myself. I love my Kindle.

I did a lot of research and even played with a few iPads before making my purchase, so I was not too surprised by its performance. I mainly got this because I can’t wait another 2-? years for my job to decide how they’re going to let us carry electronic publications. The iPad works great for that function, especially using GoodReader which I find to be superior to iBooks in a number of ways.

So far I haven’t been disappointed using it as an internet device in my home and offline in most other places. Overall it is basically what you expect: an oversized iPhone with similar features. Web pages look much better than they do on the iPhone, but there’s still no built-in flash support. Angry Birds is a lot more fun on the iPad’s big screen.

One thing I don’t like is the email presentation. It basically uses the same iPhone-sized strip overlayed on a full screen message display. There’s no way to just be looking at your inbox or other folder; you have to always be looking at an email. It’s a minor annoyance, but different than I have my email setup on every other system including the iPhone.

I was also surprised to learn that the iPad is still on iOS 3 (so much for my research). I spent over an hour trying to create app folders on the device and in iTunes before I realized the iPad doesn’t have that ability yet. I’m disappointed with the number of apps that expect you to re-buy just to increase the resolution enough that full screen looks good. Most apps like that I continue to use in the small, iPhone-size window that opens by default or I put up with pixellation and hit the 2x button. I didn’t realize how quickly I’d gotten used to iOS4, but now it’s annoying when I click a link on one website that opens a new window, and upon returning to the original site it has to completely reload instead of saving my previous position. Hopefully iOS4 will be out this month for the iPad and it will function more like my iPhone.

If you’re going to throw your iPad in a flight bag, I recommend the Otterbox Defender case. It was covered by the tax savings I enjoyed by purchasing from Amazon instead of Apple. The case offers a lot of protection, but like its iPhone cousin makes the ports less accessible. You have to remove the back panel to access the charging port, and not all headphones are able to reach into the headphone jack. My wife and I wanted to watch a movie together using a y-cord, but it wasn’t able to fit without me removing the top half of the case.

Overall I’m pleased with the unit so far. I could have waited for another solution (Google Pad, maybe?), but as Apple’s already big in our lives and my work is likely moving to this unit, it was the best choice for me. If you’re thinking of buying an iPad, I don’t see why you’d buy anywhere but Amazon. Their list prices match the Apple store, but they add no tax or shipping charges. Tax in my area is 10% so I saved $70 buying from Amazon instead of Apple.

So recently, because I love my Sansa Clip so much for exercising, and I thought I could use one more, I picked one of these up at Bestbuy. I have used it for about a week so I can’t say anything about the longetivity of the new Clip Plus, but I can tell you about everything else. First I will give you the cons since there is only one and that is also only about preference. I personally LOVED the sleek look of the original sansa clip, but that has been replaced with a sort of glittery finish on the front.

That is about it and to add to this, everything else from the outside such as the plastic used has been revamped to feel better in your hands and is just overall better quality. Now on to the most important part, the features. The main thing that sets this apart from the original clip is the addition of a microSD card slot. This can take up to a 32gb microSD card, so if you were to pair one with this, you could potentially get a 36(!)gb memory for this puny little item.

That is the next thing I will get into, the size. If you haven’t ever heard about the original sansa clip, basically, Sandisk designed this line of Sansa for portability and mainly for exercise. It feels really good in the hand and the non removable clip on the back can clip on to virtually anything. Next is the display. The menu remains much of the same, but Sansa also added slotRadio compatibility and a nicer flow to menu if you’re into that. Finally we’ll go to the placement of the buttons. On the old sansa clip, there was a button the side for power and hold, but a lot of clip owners including me found that uncomfortable.

To cope with this, Sandisk put the power button on the top and put the hold funtion to holding the home button for about 3 seconds. So overall, this is a fantastic MP3 player in any category, but if you are in the market for one for the gym, pass up the Ipod Shuffle for 79$ with no screen and counter-intuitiveness(in my opinion) and get this really nice compact MP3 player for only 50$ for the 4gb, 40$ for the 2gb and 70$ for the 8gb.
