Just the ticket
Used in Toyota Prius where backup view is terrible. This camera works terrific. Wiring was very easy to understand but a little tough to figure route on the back of the lifting door of my Prius. I routed the wire from the license plate camera to under the external trim then under the sealing trim on the back of the lifting rear door. Made a coil where the camera wire exited at the top of the door and ran the wire down to the back up light for the camera turn on power. The small coil of wire prevents stressing the camera wire to its breaking point by bending it back and forth when opening the door. I Velcroed the transmitter to the rear cabin wall. The color camera and big monitor provides great view behind car – even at night.

I used velcro on the back of the monitor and placed a strip under the car radio so I could easily remove it when I wanted because I didn’t want to place it on top of dash with the supplied mounting gear using double stick tape.

One note on operation: being wireless, the monitor will sometimes activate when driving past structures with security systems with strong wireless signals, like banks. Some establishments even use security cameras where pictures show up on the backup monitor when you’re close to the building. At night this can be distracting until you get used to it. The monitor does have a manual mode if the rare turn ons are annoying, or you can pull the monitor off the velcro support and place it under the console or simply unplug it.

Final bit of info is if possible, plug the monitor into a cigarette jack that has its power off when the keys are turned off. Most of my cars operate like this so no problem here. The monitor draws a tiny current in the off mode – like 10mA which is not very much but if your car is not driven for long periods, or your battery is already weak, it can discharge your battery.
